This is an area of fierce debate on many parents. Party Favors and Loot bags-you should have, or not?

There is no doubt that children love. Loot bag waiting eagerly at the end of each page. To enjoy them on the way home, then maybe half an hour after, and then usually forget! So, it's a waste of money-or the absolute essential?

The choice is yours. Try to be pressure on the decisions of other parents.

If you chooseparty favors to give away, or in bags, then build the cost into the budget. It all adds to the cost-bags, gifts, sweets and cakes. The dollar store is a great source for party bag items. Get a collection relating to the topic page, or a bunch of items for boys and girls, or (to suit your guest list). Beware of the choice of shops in local stores and online. If you plan ahead and grab bargains when you see, you can save a small fortune. Storemoney, and to include party loot bags into a game-get plain brown bag lunch, and give children the marker pens, paints and crafts to decorate the bags to the party. Pop a piece of cake, perhaps a balloon, and some candy in bags like every child leaves. Photographs of the guests, birthday child, or the group, is also a great party favor.

Another option is to have a lucky dip instead of the bag. Get a selection of gifts-DVD or perhaps childrenbooks (again, careful selection of shops and special offers), wrap them in colored paper and place in a tub or bag. Let each child pick a wrapped gift at the end of the party. This is especially good older children.

Creative party favors. One idea that is great for younger children is a small pot (from the cheap discount stores) and packing seeds. Simple, cheap and kids really like.

But try to feel under pressure. Do what it considers appropriateyou, and what suits your budget and circumstances. I threw a Christmas party and asked all children to a gift that was going to under-privileged children. We had a fun party, and in the end we sat and discussed why it is important to help where we can. I was so proud of our children's reactions. Not a body bag and did not expect that. Instead, he asked if we could do it every year.
