Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Taylor (wife of John Taylor-Duran Duran) founded Juicy Couture in 1994. The company began as a designer T-Shirt company. View of society has changed dramatically in 1999 with tho companies entrance into denim and sportswear markets. Then came the point of the most famous, "Track Suit." Item came in velours, terry, and cashmere. Elements which of these suits so famous was there low riding draw string pants and form of equipmentzip sweatshirts in a variety of mouthwatering colors. Skaist-Levy and Taylor, according to most fashion magazines to be there track suit as popular as the little black dress.

In 2003 Juicy Couture was purchased by Liz Claiborne, Inc. for an undisclosed multi-million dollar amounts. Quite an achievement for a company that sold track suits, "Juicy loves Martha" T-shirts, dresses and ruffled velvet tube. All Juicy Couture items are manufactured with the company's signature logo, tooHighland Terrier holding a shield with three hearts and love P & G (Pat and Gela) Juicies makers. Crown is the head, while the Juicy Couture banner flutters below the underline slogan: "Made in Glamorous USA"

Juicy Couture label has reached the height of such brands as Gucci, Guess and DKNY. This was achieved by a brilliant marketing ploy. They cultivated relationships with the local community and invited top Hollywood celebrities, such as JLo, Cameron Diaz and Madonna to shopfree. Then these famous women have there pictures taken with these items and this concept raised the label condition, "Chic Couture."

Fast forward to today under the auspices of Liz Claiborne, Juicy Couture markets many items in many categories. Do men and women's collections, collections of children, as well as a mix of fashion accessories including jewelry, handbags and swimwear.

In the last 14 years we have witnessed many changes, but one thing thatno, it Skaist-Levy and Taylor are still at the forefront of the organization the most prosperous as co-presidents.

Plastic bags are popular for many years because they are relatively cheap to produce, waterproof and durable. However, it is their durability, which makes them so unsuitable as disposable items. They are made of polyethylene, petroleum products, which is non-renewable resource. They are not biodegradable and are almost indestructible. They take an incredibly long time to collapse and whendo is to do "plastic dust" which contaminates animal life, soil and water, oceans and seas, and forever.

Around a trillion plastic bags are used worldwide each year (10 billion yen in the United Kingdom). They are environmentally hostile in the extreme, fulfills landfills, blocking drains, littering the land and oceans

Many plastic bags are recycled, are dumped in landfills and escape into the environment, wind or water action. In South Africa,plastic bag litter is so general that it is called 'national flower'.

Plastic bag litter has a devastating effect on animals, birds and marine life. Their mistake is to eat & dying after eating plastic bags to prevent their digestive system. Birds become trapped in plastic bags hanging from shrubs and trees. Whales, seals, turtles and countless fish become entangled in them & suffocate or starve to death as a result. Before death, probably suffering from severediscomfort and pain. After death, their bodies decompose and plastic is released back into the environment where it can kill again.

The plant life on earth is choked and killed by plastic bag litter. In the oceans not all plastic floats, much of it falls to the bottom, where it suffocates and kills marine plant life as well.

HOW CAN WE HELP?

* Wear long-biodegradable shopping bags: Natural cotton shopping bags are an excellent alternative to disposable plasticshopping bags.

* Re-use: All plastic bags, including any existing plastic bags for use in a household or business should be re-used as often as possible, then recycled when no longer usable.

* Recycle: This seems obvious and can be assumed that everyone is already recycling, however, many not.

* Compost: Reduce the number of plastic bin liners you use by composting all biodegradable waste eg egg shells, fruit, vegetables, etc.

* Pick up a bag of litter:All litter picked up responsibly eg in the wastebasket.

* Encourage others: support make all the above would probably work better than enforcement through legislation. Many people are still angry at the word 'green', they think it's just another form of stealth tax.
